Katy Perry’s ROAR Contest Was Brilliant

Katy Perry announced several weeks ago a Lip-Dub contest for high schools students across the United States and territories. They got thousands of videos and I have to say I watched the entire time. I loved watching the five finalists and felt some hometown pride in a way when Lakewood High School from Lakewood,CO won. I was born and raised down the road a ways in Colorado Springs, and yes, I was biased the entire time hoping they would win. Their video was awesome, if you didn’t see it check it out here! And an interesting point  to the video – they filmed it following, what I think was the last round of massive flooding that hit the area just to the south (where I grew up); best part – the entire school worked together and filmed it all in a single go. Kudos guys! And Katy Perry – I will admit (I’m not a teen anymore lol) I’ve followed your music since the “I Kissed A Girl” phase and find you to be an artist who is growing not only in sound and art itself but also as a wonderful marketing direction and I see you moving to bigger and better things. And to GMA (I’m hooked, I watch every morning and DVR in case I miss it by sleeping lol) thanks again for bringing a contest to motivate kids to work together – you guys Rock!

DirectLyrics has covered the entire morning’s event of the concert at Lakewood High School in Colorado for your viewing pleasure.

Don’t forget to ROAR before you start your day, it may just change your attitude 🙂
